We believe your personal data belongs to you, and should stay under your control.

All our products and services are built with Privacy by Design and by default; we always apply the highest security to data, and treat it with respect.  

Our mission is to be transparent and open about how we use data to help you, and we welcome your feedback.

How we communicate this:

In this notice, we share how we handle your personal information when you sign up and use our apps, service messaging, platform and website tapmydata.com.

Where we say “we” and “us”, we mean Tap. Where we say “third party” that means anyone who is not you or us. This could be another person or organisation.

We regularly check, review and update our Privacy Notice and include this in updates to our App, so you always know where you stand in our relationship.

What Information we collect:

We try to keep any data we collect to a minimum, in order to deliver our service.

You will provide some information yourself, in the form of:

  • Email address
  • Username
  • Mobile number

We collect some information automatically, in the form of:

  • Our website will collect your IP address, which browser and device
  • Our apps will collect and store information on your device
  • Our platform will collect information on requests made and fulfilled by users and customers (organisations)  

Why we collect information and what we do with it:

We collect information about you so that we can:

  • Deliver the right services for you
  • Keep in touch
  • Ensure security and integrity of your account and data
  • Provide metrics on use of our service to customers
  • Plan, develop and improve our services

This information is used to set up and manage your account, use the app, make requests on our platform and deal with your enquiries.

We need to have a valid reason to use your personal information. It’s called the “lawful basis of processing”.

Sometimes we might ask your permission to do things, like when you subscribe to an email. Other times, when you’d reasonably expect us to use your personal information, we don’t ask your permission, but only when the law says it’s fine to use it, and it fits with your rights.   

How we store and share information:

We only hold the data from you we need in the context of the service we are providing, for as long as that is necessary. We’ll always let you know how long we keep it for, and keep a record of how and when we deleted it.

The information you provide is stored separately from us and encrypted. Once your account is set up, we have no access to your information.    

You choose if you want Tap to share information with third parties, and it will be in specific circumstances, such as:

  • Valid requests for information
  • Suspected or confirmed identity fraud or other offences
  • To verify your details

In order to power certain elements of our services we will enlist other companies for specific tasks, as follows:  

Amazon Web Services - For hosting our infrastructure and email sending.

WPEngine - For hosting our public facing website.

Apple App Store - For listing our app for iOS users.

Google Play Store - For listing our app for Android users.

Urban Airship - For sending you push notifications.

Clicksend - For sending mobile and voice verifications.

Google Gmail API - For reading google mails programmatically to recommend companies to send to.

Fabric Crashlytics - For crash reporting within our app.

We make sure that your personal information is looked after as if we were handling it directly. We carefully select these companies, only share with them what they need and make sure they keep your information secure.

Your rights:

You can see and have the right to request all the information we hold on you by accessing our products, or by making a request. If you need to correct or update your information, you can do so, in the same way.

If you want to delete your information, then you can do so by accessing our products, or by making a request. If you delete our app then the link to your information is lost and it will remain in our system with no way for us to find it.
