How do I reset our team passphrase?

The team passphrase is important for the security of your account. It is the means by which the data is encrypted and only you and your team members should know it. Do not share it with anyone else.

To be able to reset your team passphrase you must be the account owner. If you are not the account owner please speak to the account owner or drop us a line at support@tapmydata.com

To reset the keys click your profile icon in the top right hand corner.

On the team profile page you will see the following option:

Click the button. A box will pop-up allowing you to change your passphrase. You now have two reset methods:

You already know your current team passphrase

This option will have no impact on the users that have previously sent you requests. You can change your password like this as often as you like and might wish to do so if team members leave the organisation for security. Follow these steps:

1. Insert your current team passphrase. Make sure there are no spaces at either end from where you might have copied it.

2. Provide a new team passphrase of at least 8 characters.

3. Click reset team passphrase button.

4. Inform any other members of your team.

You do not know your current passphrase

This option will invalidate any data you have previously been sent and you will not be able to read it. The users of any open requests will be informed that the encryption keys have been reset and asked to resubmit any requests. Only do this if you have lost access to your current team passphrase. Follow these steps:

1. On the initial pop-up click the link 'Not got your passphrase? Perform a hard reset'

2. Provide a new team passphrase of at least 8 characters.

3. Click Perform Hard Reset button.

4. Inform any other members of your team.
