What is a subject access request, or SAR?

A subject access request, or SAR, gives individuals the right to find out what personal data you hold about them, why you hold it and who you disclose it to. The Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) gives individuals the right to require you to do this.

Subject access requests are fundamental to good data handling practice and trust between your brand and customers.

The ICO have a  dedicated page where you can read more about subject access requests, or check out there subject access request code of practice.
